Disclosure Guidelines
Under the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), any material connection between you and a brand you promote must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. Because we pay you a commission on referred subscriptions, every post, video, story, or written piece that mentions Face Harmony must include a disclosure. This applies to U.S. audiences and, in substance, in most other jurisdictions (UK ASA, EU consumer law, Canadian Competition Bureau, etc.).
The three rules
- Clear: use plain language a viewer will understand. “Aff,” “collab,” “sp,” or “thanks to Face Harmony” alone are not sufficient.
- Conspicuous: place the disclosure where viewers will see it before they engage — top of caption, on-screen in the first few seconds of a video, and audibly in the voiceover.
- Every time: disclose in every piece of content, not just the first. Never rely on a bio-only or profile-only disclosure.
Approved wording
- “I earn a commission through this link.”
- “#ad” or “#sponsored” at the start of a caption.
- “Paid partnership with Face Harmony” (use the platform's built-in label when available).
- “Affiliate link — I get a commission if you subscribe.”
Per-platform requirements
Instagram (Reels, Stories, Feed)
- Turn on Instagram's Paid Partnership label whenever available.
- Include #ad in the first line of the caption (not buried behind ‘…more’).
- For Stories: add a text sticker with ‘#ad’ on every slide that mentions Face Harmony.
- Say “sponsored” or “ad” out loud in Reels — do not rely on the caption alone.
TikTok
- Toggle the Branded Content switch on the post.
- Include #ad in the caption at the start.
- Say it aloud in the video: “This is an ad” or “I earn a commission if you download.”
YouTube (Long-form and Shorts)
- Check the “Contains paid promotion” box in YouTube Studio.
- State the disclosure verbally in the first 30 seconds and again near the referral link mention.
- Include the disclosure at the top of the video description, above the referral link.
X / Twitter, Threads, and short-form text
- Include #ad at the start of the post, before the link.
- For threads, repeat the disclosure in the tweet that contains the referral link.
Blog posts, newsletters, and websites
- Include a disclosure at the top of the article, before the first mention of Face Harmony.
- Example: “This post contains affiliate links. If you subscribe through them I earn a commission at no extra cost to you.”
Podcasts and audio
- Read the disclosure at the start of the segment where Face Harmony is mentioned.
- Include it in the show notes alongside the link.
What you must not say
- Do not claim Face Harmony diagnoses medical conditions, treats disorders, or provides clinical advice.
- Do not promise a specific harmony score, rating outcome, or aesthetic result.
- Do not fabricate testimonials or reviews you did not personally experience.
- Do not imply you work for Face Harmony or Face Harmony App LLC beyond “affiliate.”
- Do not target minors as your primary audience.
Monitoring
We spot-check affiliate content. Missing or inadequate disclosures can result in a warning, a hold on payouts until content is fixed, or termination for repeated or willful non-compliance. If you're unsure whether a specific piece of content is compliant, email support@faceharmony.org before publishing.
